Kearny & Trecker horizontal milling machine
This particular machine was built between 1940 and 1950. The Kearney and Trecker Company was known for building strong, long lasting, and user friendly machines. This one is no exception. Even after 60 years it is still a work horse. Whether it's heavy material removal or fast production runs, this machine can do it all.
Kearney & Trecker vertical/horizontal milling machine
Built in the 1970's, this is the more modern version of the previous mentioned K & T mill. What makes this machine special is its more advanced electronic AC motors and its capability to be run with a vertical or horizontal spindle. This machine is the biggest and most rigid in the shop, so it can take the biggest cuts. Its advanced motor control ensures smooth spindle and table movement. All functions are operated by a single electronic control panel.
Tree Tool and Die vertical milling machine
The Tree is a shining example of a "lightweight mill". For quick and accurate hole drilling or light weight machining, there are few machines that can beat it. Because it has a quill feed lever (like the lever on a drill press), the tree can drill or mill quickly.
Cincinnati Bickford Super Service 21 inch drill press
Need a hole, anybody? This drill press, probably built in the 1940's, cuts holes like no other. It is different from a conventional drill press because it is not only much heavier and more rigid, but is has a power quill feed. With the flick of the lever, the machine automatically cuts the hole for you. The "power feed" always ensures a cleaner cut, cutter longevity, and reduced drilling time.
Monarch 10EE tool room lathe
The lathe is an essential tool for any machine shop, and it is the only machine that can actually rebuild itself. In most milling machines the cutter is used to remove material and is held in the spindle and turned to cut the part held in a vise. A lathe works the other way around. The part is held in a chuck mounted to the spindle and spins while the cutter is advanced into the inside or the outside of the part. This enables the operator to "turn down" or "bore" the part to specific dimensions.
Marvel Series 8 Mark 1 vertical tilting band saw
As a cutting master once said, the Marvel vertical tilting band saw is the Cadillac of all saws. This saw cuts through virtually everything at any angle, and fast. It has a large flat table and the 1 inch saw blade cuts through the part held in a vise. The blade can be adjusted to any angle up to 45 degrees in both directions. These features make the Marvel the most universal and fastest saw made.
Precision layout/fabrication table
One must rely on the accuracy of his/her table and fixturing tools to yield quality results. This table is 4 inches thick and the entire surface has been ground flat. ("Flat" means within three thousandths of an inch, or .003 inches) All tooling used with the table; such as angle blocks, indicators, and gauges, are square and flat as well. This means the customer has the satisfaction of knowing their work is built efficiently and accurately.
TIG and MIG welders, oxygen/acetylene
With over 10 years of extensive welding and brazing experience, joining metals is definitely a specialty at Hirschfeld Fab. TIG welding is one of Joel's favorite and most accomplished skills. He can weld extremely thin metals up to extremely thick quite well
